The SMAD data system from MorganKennedy Research includes both hardware and software (SMADChrom). It is designed as a general purpose data acquisition system, with software analysis slanted towards chromatography applications. The complete system costs $1995.00 for 2 channels, $2495.00 for 4 channels
Four example files are included, and the software version is fully functional. SMADChrom will only open data files accumulated with the SMAD hardware.
****SMAD (Hardware)****
Our **NEW** hardware interface (SMAD ][) is powered by a 9V/ 600 mA AC/DC converter and allows analog input voltages of between +/- 5 volts. SMAD connects to the Macintosh computer via the serial port and allows up to four input channels (with independant gain) to be analysed simultaneously. Sampling rates (up to 1000 Hz) and resolution (16 or 21 bits ) are software controlled, allowing the user great flexibility in data acquisition and make the SMAD system an ideal replacement for a chart recorder / integrator.
****SMADChrom (Software)****
SMADChrom allows fast and simple system initialisation, resulting in a short startup time. The software fully implements the standard Macintosh interface ( Menus, windows, Dialog boxes, etc. ), and will run on most Macintosh computers (any Macintosh computer with 1 or more megabytes of RAM).
Data is displayed in real time during acquisition, and both vertical and horizontal scrolling are fully supported. The data acquisition period can be specified, (acquisition can be interupted at any time ) and the acquired data saved to disk.
Raw data can be saved in either SMADchrom and/or ASCII formats, allowing the user to reanalyse and /or easily transfer data to other applications. Acquired data can be analysed, allowing the reporting of any or all peak retention times, heights, areas, etc. Great flexibility over analysis parameters ( Peak width, slope, period, minimum height and area ) allows the user to produce output tailored to the user's individual specifications . Manual integration allows the user to specify/modify peak start/stop or baseline points.
Report files are saved as text files, and can be opened directly from other application such as word processors or spreadsheets.
SMADchrom will run under Multifinder/system 7.x , allowing the user to copy raw data and/or report information to the clipboard and paste directly into other applications.
Data can, in most instances, be acquired in the background, which allows the computer to be used for other purposes during data acquisition.
High resolution printing ( 300 d.p.i.) is fully supported, making SMADchrom a valuable asset for publishing purposes. Data files / report files can be printed directly from SMADchrom on any Macintosh-compatible printer.
The SMAD data system will interface to most autosamplers, allowing data to be collected and saved and/or analysed and/or printed automatically. The auto mode is simple to setup and is invaluable for high volume analysis.
SMADChrom can now also read TEXT (ASCII) files
Method files are supported for quick and reliable initialisation.
